Keri Ann Smith

Keri Ann Smith is a family violence specialist and brings to DART Group over 15 years of experience and expertise through varying roles across the family and domestic violence sector. Keri Ann Smith is also a registered psychologist through the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Keri Ann Smith has worked across government departments such as the Department of Justice and Department of communities ensuring best practice in the area of family domestic violence. During her time with the Department of Justice, Keri Ann worked with family domestic violence and sexual violence perpetrators. A highlight in Keri Anne’s career within the Department of Justice was the successful implementation of the family violence risk assessment tool (DVSIR). Keri Ann also worked intensively within the offender rehabilitation services and provided clinical interviews and forensic reports for risk of recidivism to the Department.

During her time at the Department of Communities, Keri Ann managed the Family Domestic Violence Unit as a specialist practitioner, providing strategic direction, legislative reform, policy advice and collaboration on cross department and cross agency actions. In addition, Keri Ann provided specialist support to the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Issues. More recently, Keri Ann supported Learning and Development, creating the Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management course which has been delivered to both Communities staff and sector staff across Western Australia.

As an independent consultant, Keri Ann continues to provide family domestic and sexual violence informed counselling to survivors inclusive of expert witness reports. Keri Ann also continues to deliver family violence informed training across Western Australia to both government and non-government organisations. Through the Department of Communities, Keri Ann is reviewing the Common Risk and Risk Management Framework which is the risk framework utilised throughout Western Australia for family and domestic violence. Keri Ann has recently spent time in the Goldfields leading the review and implementation of the FDV Action plan for the region.

Keri Ann has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with First Class Honours and a minor in Child Development (2007) from Murdoch University. Keri Ann was awarded the Vice Chancellors Award of Commendation for Academic Excellence (2005) and the Andrea Fernandez Memorial Award for Psychology (2007).
